Field Study's Man in E11 is trying to liberate himself from a slippery slough of domestic despond; a proverbial and apocryphal hole he has dug for himself. I stood at the edge of the hole, peered into the darkness and listened to his wormish despondence. . I admonished the field student. 'You dug this hole. You can bloody well dig yourself out of it!' He protested, he pleaded. 'I didn't dig this hole. I fell into it. It's a trap!!'
